  .........................................  Jan Von Holleben..........................................

             About :Jan Von holleben ~Biography~

.......................Was born..................   (in Cologne) up in the more southern part of the German countryside and grew up there for the most part. He began his "wild journey and adventure" at the age of 13 to follow his father's photographic style of career. One day just by picking up a camera and began to experiment and play around with everything which he refers to as he started experimenting with "magical tricks", there thats when he started developing his photography. A never-ending, a "running" imagination he had begun to evolve a wild imagination the more he experimented with Photos as well as skills with family and friends. Which later helped him with technique , even including in more commercial settings. Growing up his parents; mom and dad were a cinematographer and a child therapist.  So it later happens that later on he found himself; was pursuing studies in the teachings of children with disabilities at the Pädagogische Hochschule in Freiburg. Afterwards ended up moving to London and succesfully earned his degree in History of Photography and Theory at the " Surrey Institute of Art and Design". When at once he had moved to London he happened to begin submerging into the London photographic scene . Eventually Jan Von began working moving into the position of working as picture editor, photographic and and art director.  NEXT , quickly and rapidly

Now for the 3 Images We had to choose on:
well for starters!~:  we  were to  Select three images from the "Dreams of Flying" and post them to our blog home page and write a critique of the image in my photography class with my teacher xp (Mr. Memmot). Yet i went above and beyond;) , I couldn't quite choose only 3. So the 3 favourites I had i said which they were and why I chose them especially, but I also wrote critiques for some of my other favourites i just couldn't leave out. It was hard to choose since quite a lot of them were quite creative and nicely detailed even by adding the simplest things make a lot of his work that much more awesome and fun.
Star Wars Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader Battle Scene

Up up and away

Superman hero
underwater adventure scuba diver
aladdin - magic flying carpet

In my opinion this photo is very creative, the colours are strongly vibrant and colourful. It's a cute idea and how the little girls in the picture are positioned especially the one on the far left makes it look more realistic. Also you can see how he thought "outside the box" and used a variety of colourful shoes to represent  flowers and used swimming flippers as well, and for the young girl on the right seems he also added two squash rackets to replace what would seem as "fairy wings".  Even the smallest details and thought that was put into effort in his idea makes it look even more as they are actually playing, having fun and can fly/drift away.

First thing right off the bat! Many people if not most may have already noticed this Classic. Which you can identify as 'Ghostbusters'. in my opinion and the reason why i wanted to do a critique and post this picture is because; i think that Jan Von Holleben did a fantastic job creating and representing this fun piece. I love how the leaves set the mood, you can tell that the time period is around Fall. The fact that he used everyday kind of objects makes it that much more creative. You can appreciate the fact that it appears as if they are truly catching and capturing a ghost in this picture. Even from the way it is set up such as how the ghost is positioned thinner from the bottom then the top and body makes it look as if it is in fact being sucked in by the vacuums. He did a great job even by the simplest fact that anyone and how we can actually tell that this is representing the classic movie 'GhostBusters' is a true accomplishment in itself to be able to recognize that, and then how it looks in the final shot results in a enjoyable picture of such a fun classic.

I personally love  this photo, one big reason maybe even a biased opinion might be just because I love Harry Potter , it shows two wizards playing "quidditch". Its a cute idea, and is shown and displayed well. Even how it seems as if it could actually speak and play out in motion, you can tell this by even how the foot of each kid is and body is overall positioned sideways like the feet being bent in and not in a normal walking-like position. I like the way Jan Von Holleben positioned the robes so it really looks like the people are flying as well. Usually adding more details and background ads more to the story however this could be an exception since there is nothing going on in the background so that you focus on the two kids.

I find this photo to look very interesting and artistically creative.  Not only that but i can conclude that It is a great use and a nice intention in effort , that was played out  to successfully complete the idea of strictly  applying the use of everyday things and objects you may be able to easily find and own . It's smart and practical the articles that were fit in the Picture above to re enact the well known , popular movie.  The usage of items  are put into good use to make it look like the boy is standing on a massive towering building, with what you may tell looks something like a brief case and a luggage with the many other items included in the photo. It is something that everyone can relate to/ pick up as the classic "King kong".the fact that Jan Von didn't use any masks or gorilla costumes to help portray his target of the picture , but instead chose for the boy ito be wearing clothes that makes it look like monkey hair.

                                                     About Me

Hi my name is Alex! (Fragoso). c: I'm making this website/blog for my Grade 10 Visual Arts; Photography Class this year 2014/2015. I love to be active,  all kinds of sports, especially volleyball, sports like soccer or things like biking/go for runs/walks and such as well as many other activities.  I like to take pictures of different things, i like to try to use different perspectives and ways, and i'm excited to learn more about Photography this Semester! Especially during the summer time or different periods of the year i like to take photos, sometimes if i'm on vacation/ a trip or in general, with friends, family or even by myself just to have some fun and experiment.   I'm an easygoing person and I  like meeting new people ^^ . I am currently in things like Project Equal, Link Crew, (Chs dance too) Dance, Community Leadership 10 and more as well as joining other things soon! :D I'm originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico which was about 1 hour away from Mexico City. iii.) Friday Photos ~Hand In Page~

~FRIDAY PHOTO HAND IN~

For this very first Photo Friday of the year (grade 10 photography) which the theme is to post a  black and white picture we may have taken or found , one of the pictures that I chose and stood out to me in some way a little was this one. I chose this picture among others because i liked the idea it captures, the light and dark. The fact that makes it interesting for me is how the black and white in this picture(makeup or such) is used and represented in this picture. I find it looks creative and artistic since if you can./have noticed the white part of this picture looks more normal, but however if you take a look at the black part you can still see her face just colored. Yet you can also figure out that you can create other forms out of the black side, an 'illusion' a 'silhouette' if you change your point of view, you may realize and notice how another face kind of appears as if taken from the side.

a~ Home Page ( Photography Journal) :)

This first picture out of the 3 Pinhole Photography Pictures I chose this one because it has an interesting wide variety of things happening in the picture, you can imagine people in motion, the dimensions of the buildings/architecture, the people and surroundings involved when taking this pictue. The angles of some objects add a cool twist and i like how it has some depth to it and plenty of things to view when shot.
I also chose this picture because i love how you can see the sky and the flowers, the colors, and how the light from morning or time period when the light was out was used effectively and makes this picture look more beautiful and engaging.

There is several of pictures like this all by mainly the same person; Justin Quinell. When we take a look at his website/and the internet you can see how interesting and unique/rare the idea is of the fact that Justin came up with taking some Mouth Pinhole pictures  'mouthpiece'. This way you can see how things look from that point which can create as Quinell has shown interesting results. Not only is this picture added with some humour but i like the effort to take the shots and the way it surprisingly turns out.
